The Weekly Smile 11/25/19

This last week has been a rough one. Last Friday, Child Care Licensing showed up at my house. There was an anonymous complaint about the number of kids I have-no worries all is fine and going to get even better! The frustrating part is that I’m 99.9% sure who made the complaint, and they did it over something petty. AND they are no longer even here! However, God blesses those with a pure heart, and will not give in to malice.

On Monday evening, I ended up in the ER wanting to amputate, of all things, my big toe. Come to find out I was having a gout attack! I’m not even sure that I would wish that on my worst enemy. OK maybe I would if I was in a desperate situation of life or death, because it does come on that suddenly. So I got medications, but the gout medicine they give you has a horrible side effect of gastrointestinal distress. So for three days I was swollen like a pregnant lady and not able to do anything hardly.. I was fortunate that my mom was on vacation and she graciously helped me take care of my daycare kids so I did not have to close. After seeing the podiatrist, I have to go get a blood test done to check my uric acid levels. They gave me a new pain medicine so I don’t look quite as pregnant LOL. But I feel like an emotional roller coaster because I did not realize just how exhausting this is. In the long run, we are praying that it’s a once-in-a-lifetime attack. I’m also smiling because I can still walk. It could be worse.

My kitties were spayed this past Friday as well. Cookie is doing amazing and Oreo is walking around like I was during the gout attack.

I was able to get some photographs this weekend which helped me breathe and bring the gratitude back to my heart. Definitely some smiles overall.

I’ve know people who had gout – it doesn’t sound fun! Cool that you had time to hobble out and get some photos 😉 Also great that you can continue smiling even when there are bad times 🙂

I had Gout when I was in my thirties from dehydration due to heavy drinking. I was given antibiotics which worked almost immediately. I was so bad that I couldn’t step on the brake hard enough so I was out of commission for quite a while. I changed my diet, quit drinking and was fine. Then I ran out of pills, decided to start drinking again and it never came back. No real lesson here but I feel your pain (not literally).

  3. Oh my goodness. Sorry about your complaint, and the gout. What a past few days. Praying you get all things straight, and that you start feeling better. I have been so busy I forgot thanksgiving was this week. Smh at me 🙂
