The Weekly Smile

I’ve been out of touch as far as what’s going on personally cause it’s just been nuts.

School started back for my kids, and was going great. My son went to a friends house after school one Friday evening and on Monday both he and my daughter tested positive for the new covid variant. Honestly, it was no different than a case of the flu for them. They had no more than three days of fever. They needed lots of extra sleep. DayQuil and NyQuil worked for my son (13) and alternating Tylenol/ibuprofen for my daughter (8) worked well. Unfortunately I had to close my business for ten days, so it’s been a rough financial hit. My son is still catching up in his classes, but school wise my daughter is good since it’s 3rd grade.

Neither my husband nor myself tested positive. And no we don’t wear masks and we have not nor will we get the vaccine. If you are on the opposite side I support your personal decision. We don’t have to agree to be respectful.

With all the stress, we took this weekend to spend it out in the camper. We were able to go the Antique Tractor Show. I got to see a corn shucker for the first time ever, my girl shelled corn, and we ate real food from the concessions. Homemade. Affordable. Country life is fabulous.

Yesterday we went out on the boat. And finally did some worm fishing! I caught the first fish then my girl then her dad. Perch and catfish were what we found, but I was just happy to be fishing.

I’m not sure what we are doing today, but I know that I would love to do more fishing.

When I was a kid one of my neighbors used a corn shucker, so I used them many times… Glad the kids are better.
