Well, last week was good up until Thursday. And it’s not that it was bad, but at that point the kids lost their minds. By Friday night I was so done with people.
I cant remember if I told you, last Saturday I went with my son for his Student Council Adopt A Spot Clean Up Day. Even though it was early, it was hot. But the kids did great and it was fun spending time with them doing something productive.

This past Saturday, my daughter and I volunteered at the local animal shelter. We helped clean the kennels, and I took updated pictures for them so we can get these babies homes! They currently have 68 animals and only two full time staff! That is completely ridiculous and another post entirely. I feel like I didn’t do anything but was there way past closing time. It wasn’t hard, and I can’t wait to go back. The ferret and kittens were my daughter’s faves. And upon hearing the stories, I really dislike people that much more.

I still have to go back and get most of the kittens/cats and 9 of the dogs. After posting the immediate needs, the community response was great! So I’m praying they pull through with the food. I can’t wait to get back!
And my laptop keyboard has died. Yep. The one I do my photo editing on. I am able to do some basic stuff, but Photoshop is not available and this is very bad for a photographer. I’m hoping I can find someone quickly, and that it doesn’t cost me everything.
This week is meet the teacher for my daughter, and school starts this Thursday! It’s very bitter sweet. I now only have an 8th grader and a 3rd grader. *sigh*

Can you plug an external keyboard/mouse into your laptop? I rarely use the built in ones and wouldn’t know if they died or not 😉
Cleanup sounds like a productive endeavor.
Glad you had a positive experience with the shelter and were able to lend a helping hand. Some of the stories are awful, and I also question the humanity of humans when I hear them… Hope the new photos continue to get more people interested! Love the ones you posted – all look like great dogs! Who couldn’t resist those faces?

I’m currently using my sons external keyboard but I can’t figure out how to make the keys work for the Photoshop controls 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️. I know right? And I’ll tell you what I really think that the people who do these things to these animals should be treated the same way.

Who are we to say that eventually those people aren’t treated that way? 😉

Aww Kammie, God bless you for volunteering at your local shelter and for taking these amazing photos!! Praying each of these sweet ones finds their forever-loving home where they will be pampered and adored. ♥ They are all so cute! And you’re right – 2 staff members for all of those animals is undeniably insane. (sigh)
“Adopt A Spot Clean Up Day” is such a great idea too! I love that your son and all these awesome kids gave it their all. You have done a wonderful job teaching them empathy, compassion, and a sense of doing good to others. Bless you, Kammie!
I am so sorry to hear about your keyboard though. 😢 Any luck finding someone to repair it? Hopefully, it’s something simple that won’t take much to fix. I was going to recommend an external keyboard for the temporary fix but I see that you’re already trying to make that work. Bless your heart. It’s no fun when these things happen!
As always, I am sending you my love, prayers, and hugs. Thank you for being you! 🤗

Thank you so much my friend! It means the world to me!
I was thinking of you today. I was going to ask you a question. I got the cats A new litter box that comes with the pellets that don’t absorb the water. i’ve had it about a week and they won’t use it. Now I’ve always been told to keep the other litter box in the same room so they will transition. Should I just remove the normal litterbox so they will use the other one? I just don’t know that it will necessarily force them to do so.

Sorry to hear they won’t use the new litter box yet. Some cats are very sensitive about what kind of litter they will use and are skeptical of anything new!
I’m not sure that I would just remove the old litter box because it could mean that they start using your floor instead. 😐 I’ve got a question for you. Would adding some of your old litter to the new pellets cause a problem for the kind of box you have? It’s possible (if you can with the box you have) that you could transition them gradually by adding less and less of your old litter to the new litter until they take to it. Because their scent will already be in it, try using the used (but scooped) clay litter from the old box to add to the pellet box.
Also, if you have extra of them, add some pellets to the box they’ve been using. It’ll help them get used to the smell and texture too. Make sense?
If they start using the new box and get their scent on it, it’s possible they’ll stick with it and you can completely remove the old. I’d just be hesitant to remove it too soon. This could spell a smelly disaster for you!
If I was confusing- let me know! I’ll be glad to help if I can. 🤗

I will start doing the pellets to the old box 1st. The new one has a pad system to where the urine goes through on the pad absorbs and I switch the pads out and so the poop I just kind of spooked out and toss it

Oh ok. I see. Yeah, I’d try adding pellets to the old box first then like you said. It might be enough to convince them that it’s okay.
Cats have sensitive noses so it wouldn’t take much of their scent on the new box to do the trick. Maybe just a splash or two of their litter from the old box could help?

Hey Kammie! I have been working on a blog post today for Cat Care Solutions and saw something that I thought you might be interested in for your Wobbler. 🙂 It’s a tutorial on how to make a homemade handicap-accessible litter box. It made me think of you!
Thought I’d send it your way, just in case. Sending lots of love & hugs! ♥

You do such important work with your children – such difficult work, though. Just breaks one’s heart.
