Sprouting

She gently moved

The fragile flower

In mid bloom-

Her eye catching it as mine was oblivious

To it’s hidden loveliness

Disguised by greenery-

The excitement in her eyes

The overwhelming joy in her tiny voice

Stopped my breathing for a mother’s moment-

As in that blink

She showed me that she understood

The truth of what I’ve been planting-

That appreciation of all things

Especially the ones

We all miss without second glances
