I’m ready for a breather. Kids go back to school tomorrow, and I just might have some extra time to catch up with my blogging. It’s been a busy week, with a few bonus moments I’m grateful for. Others, remind me that my love for animals gets me in trouble. ❤️🤷🏼♀️
Saturday we went to the annual Watermelon Festival in Forestburg,Tx. Lots of candy for her, and mama found this beauty behind the vendor tents. Why do I love this small town? Because the people who own this knew I was taking pics and didn’t care. No hollering about trespassing, personal space, etc. I also made sure to keep the license plate out of the picture. It appears they still use this awesome machine and that to me, makes it more special.
Meet Oreo and Cookie. 3 years to the day we rescued our dogs at the Watermelon Festival, we rescued these cuties. They were laying against the side wall of a busy gas station on Hwy 82. My mini me saw them first. It was horribly hot, and apparent they needed help. Let me tell you, Jesus stepped in to keep my mouth shut when a lady walked by and said,”oh just a couple of strays” like they were just trash. Did she mean it that way? Idk. But that’s how my heart perceived it. All the shelters are full. The fosters are full. We took them to the vet, they’re on antibiotics, and doing well. The goal was to rehome them. That’s become an issue. The kids of course want them. I want them. But we have a dog who wants them-for a snack. I’m not sure how to fix that. So any ideas would be appreciated.
“How we walk with the broken is more important than how we sit with the great” is one of the quotes I have written on my kids’ bathroom mirror. I know some have seen this-but my mom heart is thankful. One day at circle time, I was talking with the kids about being nice to people at school who appear to not have any friends. In short, to show the love of Jesus, especially if no one else is. Not waiting for someone else to do it. Don’t think your kids hear/see/listen?
There is proof that they do.
Ah, nice cats. Great that you could rescue them. Maybe introduce them to the dogs slowly? Most dogs can accommodate cats. Ours do very well, but then, they were pretty much raised with them. Of course, it doesn’t always work, but…
