Don’t Let It

The splash noise as it hits

The puddle made by its own

Plopping, jumping

Wrinkling its velvet cover

I was once smooth

And then they came

Ripping, tearing

Heart in jagged pieces

Not comprehending

Not knowing

That loving their blankets

Would leave mine in shreds
