Trickle Off

With each calculated automatic step,

I absorb the raindrops softly landing-

The drops gliding down my arms and face-

Wiping away the hurtful emotions I’m handling-

Not really dealing with them so much,

As attempting to ignore and let go of their touch-

Blind-sighted by words that fuel my defenses,

Enticing me to stand and fight-

Teasing me that all is done,

While they vow to destroy me with all their might-

I pause to smell and feel the rain,

Enclosing myself from the rubble around-

Choosing to ignore the devil’s ploy,

A small victory in standing my ground.
