Without the Crowd

You know standing up for what you believe in is not usually easy. Standing beside your values usually means you’ll lose people. I don’t have to agree with you to love you. But there’s a simple term you must understand: respect.

As far as I’m concerned, you can’t claim you have morals and values if you’re unwilling to stand beside them no matter the situation. No matter who doesn’t agree. It’s hard. But it’s completely necessary, especially raising children this day and age.

I’m working on learning that it is OK to stand up for what I believe. And I’m learning it’s OK if other people don’t like it. But you will respect me out of common courtesy. If you can’t do that, then don’t bother. Don’t ask me for something you’re unwilling to give as well. My children are part of this future, and I want them to be a light.
