Breathing fresh air..crisp and cool is so uplifting. Sucking in ice cold freezing air just makes you want to whine and complain. Not to mention run to the car so you can turn on the heater. Oh how I digress-again.
It was I will never shave my legs again cold when I was walking with my freshman son (which him growing up I’m not too excited with) to set up his plot project. He has a really great place, and it’s gorgeous.
As we were walking I was trying not to gripe about the fact that I couldn’t feel my feet. (I made up for it on the way back). And suddenly my peripheral vision caught the glimpse of hiding red. I backed up and in the cold I had to get the shot. Not one most would care to probably take the time for. I could be wrong, who knows.
But in this season of winter, with the browns and grays glittering when the sun decides to shine, these radiant red leaves grabbed me. They were sprouting up, reaching and surviving regardless of its surroundings. It has somethings bringing it forth.
I just want to walk by day after day and watch them. Check on them. See them grow. Appreciate their determination. Learn from them.
Because in our darkest hour, when our surroundings are dying we still have the ability to shine. To be radiant and rise above. As God gives this power to the plants and animals, he has embedded it in us. His creation.
So can I just stop and bask in His glory in the midst of this hurricane? Can I just grab hold of the worry and cast it out to accept His peace? Can I just stop depending on myself? I can and I must for God’s love and blessings to fall upon me. I can rise above and I can face fear because these hard things are not from God.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Psalm 55:22 Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you, he will never let the righteous be shaken.
